Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Harry Potter

So, like I said, I am off to forget and rethink my life.

No, actually the plan was to start our usual October school vacation a bit early. Of course our son was happy. Missing an entire school week? Who wouldn’t be happy? Even if he attends one of the best schools, it is still a school , a must to do thing, hence happy to leave.

So instead of  heading to the mountains as we almost always do, we flew to London. Short, uneventful flight, trip down memory lane, so much so, that I ended up having a small bottle of Chardonnay. For old times sake.

For all those years of flying from Kuwait to Budapest via London and back.

Fast track through immigration, though my heart skipped a beat when the immigration officer ( a really nice lady) started asking questions from my son. Since we don’t have the same family name it was only expected. Of course I had his birth certificate ready to show, but still an unnerving situation. Luckily my son knew my name ( don’t laugh, he is so spaced out most of the time, living in his own little dream world) , but couldn’t quite remember his Mum’s birthday sadly. Only the month. But then again, what do you expect from guys, dates like birthday, wedding anniversary, the first kiss, all are unnecessary information.

Soon we were on our way to meet his Dad, eagerly waiting for us in front of the Hotel Corinthia.

And now I am about the go on and on about the hotel, even though we only had 2 nights and a day to stay.

Such a beautiful place with an amazing courtyard with gas fireplaces , where you could sit and have your coffee or just cosy up by the fire with a glass of (not so good, but very expensive) wine. :)

We took two separate rooms on the same floor. Nice smelling, very nice smelling. Nothing artificial, more like arabic insence, but very mild.

Amazingly spacious bathroom with huge walk in shower and gigantic bathtub with a tv (sadly no time to try it). Fluffy towels, Espa toiletries, nice warm floor, and everything to be controlled by the push of a button. Loved the mood lighting , the “do not disturb” sign at the press of the button.

On our way up A kept telling our son that he will really like the room. Couldn’t quite understand why. But when he walked in, he found what he has been waiting for over a year, the object of his desire, which I heard so much about….the VR headset for Playstation. It was released on 13th of October in the UK. Almost sold out, but luckily ( didn’t even want to ask how) the concierge managed to get hold of one from Harrods.

So M was over the moon. I wasn’t so sure about it. Another “thing” to be monitored and controlled by me.

Can’t say that I am not a bit curious about it though, definitely will try it. Prefer real time to virtual one, but why not, must know what my son is into.

Unfortunately London was its usual self, raining. More like pouring cats and dogs. Luckily the hotel is so centrally located, close to Piccadilly, that we could just walk to Waterstones for some books.
It is so different here , so many people browsing through books, and actually buying them. Nothing like home.

M. was overwhelmed by the sheer number of them, so couldn’t choose. His Mum got two more gardening books, this time about wild flower gardens. Love their love of gardening. Easily could spend hours just looking at them. We got A a book about wines. Since he got some books  about cigars for his birthday, I thought it was high time to educate him about wines as well. :)

The rain wouldn’t stop, so we headed back to the hotel. Rainy evening London though has a magical atmosphere, crowded little restaurants and pubs, warm lights.

Ended up being in the courtyard, sitting by a fireplace with blankets around us. Although we had a table reserved at Massimo, didn’t feel like moving from this warm cocoon, so stayed and ordered some lobster sandwiches.

Blissfully relaxing night on a really comfy bed, despite of my son fighting for the comforter as if his life depended on it.

Should I still go on about praising the hotel?

The breakfast was amazing, cereals, a huge bowl of raspberries, black and blueberries, delicious cheeses, pastries, fresh juices ( no sugary drinks here, thumbs up).

A was wondering why did some people complained about tCorinthia  at all on TripAdvisor.

We had some time to kill till our Warner Bros Studio Tour. Were really excited about seeing the movie sets, having some Butterbeer.

Our son insisted on seeing the Palace theatre. He so wanted to see the show, but it has been sold out for quite some time. We’ve noticed a few people standing in line behind a sign saying Queue for Returns.

So I stood in line. In less than half an hour we had 3 tickets, really good seats, row I, almost the middle.

Couldn’t believe it. First show started at 13.00., second one at 18.30.

What could I say? It was fantastic!

The stage, the actors, the dementors, they were really creepy. Took us a little while to figure out who is Hermione Granger. Scorpius Malfoy was incredible, really funny, perhaps my favourite.

High time we started seeing some shows in London.

But for now I just want to sleep. Or perhaps a late dinner first?
