It’s 7 am Sunday morning. I’ve been looking forward to it all week, the day when we don’t go anywhere, just stay home and relax, do absolutely nothing. So here is my “do nothing ” Sunday!
Wowed to have a leisurely breakfast with M, but had to do a few chores before.
Made up the beds, opened the windows, made a fire, but in order to do that, had to bring in some wood.
While outside, noticed the bird feeder is empty, so nipped in to get some seeds for them.
Took out the ash, vacuumed around the wood burning stove, then decided to continue and ended up cleaning the whole of downstairs.
My son couldn’t wait, so he had some muesli with milk, which he managed to spill, quick mop solved the problem.
While heating up the water for tea and milk for my coffee talked to my Mum about her nightmarish dream of us not picking her up in Madeira once she arrives.
Told her our address just in case and promised not to forget about the day she lands. As if I could!
M couldn’t find his favourite socks, so searched for it in the laundry room, while there, folded the clothes, put my ski pants and jacket into the washing machine. Luckily while trying them on ( yes, they still fit me, hip hip hurray !) I’ve checked the pockets and I found some money. Enough for a sushi lunch for two.
By then I reheated the milk twice already for my coffee. M was looking for a measuring tape to be used for his math homework with a pot of yogurt in hand.
Guess who found it? Of course me! اWhile searching for it, I found the red ribbon with white dots on it, I needed for the berry wreath to be hung on the entrance door, so quickly did that. While at it, I removed the rest of the fall decorations, the lanterns, the skeletons and the ghost that makes a squeaky sound used to scare the tourists away…:)
M was already at the dining table doing homework. Checked his story for spelling mistakes, gave him a lecture about paying attention to his work, focusing on one thing at a time without jumping up and down every five minutes.
Kids… This is how they study, or at least mine. Sitting at a desk must be pure torture for him, glad he doesn’t have to do it for extended periods of time at school.
Quick glance at the fridge to check the time. Already past 11. Pressed the quick heat button on the microwave for the third time while rushing to the drier to get out the next load of clothes.
Carried the folded clothes up, by now with coffee in my hand. Yes!!!
Found an open packet of golden raisins, nibbled on them and started lunch.
Good old fashioned chicken soup, roasted chicken with quince and rice. Made some roasted butternut squash. Needed it for the paleo pumpkin cake.
Got recipe from sis, but it didn’t say how much bicarbonate of soda and lemon juice needed.
Call to sis, she was out, chatted to her daughter instead. None the wiser continued on with the recipe.
Practiced spelling, talked about Ancient Egypt a bit. My son is doing a project on it. Must do it alone, but love to listen to bits of informations he finds.
Gorgeous sunshine outside, can’t stay in anymore. Couple of pullovers, leggings, hooded jumper and out at last. With my camera. Start wandering around aimlessly in the snow stopping to take some macro shots of the last flowers of 2015.
My garden is still beautiful. Adore the almost dried hydrangea flowers, the asters that still flower despite of the cold, magic is in the air.
And the delicious aroma of chicken wafting through the kitchen window . Oops, forgot to close the windows.
Managed to convince M about the benefits of exercise out in the fresh air, he is running around the house on the gravel path. Needed to air his head out.
Tell him how I use to to study in the garden, in the cold. You get very efficient if you are freezing and all you want to do is just go in to the warm room.
The sun is slowly disappearing , the air becomes chilly.
Feels great to get in, sitting down to a very late lunch, just the two of us. No rush, even poured myself a glass of Shiraz.
Bliss… Time to slow down. Try the paleo cake, my son opts for Macadamia nut ice cream instead.
We got the Monopoly out and start to play. M seems to be winning, he has so many properties already. Watch him steeling one of mine with a cheeky grin on his face.
So warm and cosy, so peaceful…
A perfect Sunday.
So next time if you ask me ” What are my plans for Sunday ?” and I answer ” Nothing, just a lazy Sunday .” Well, this is what I mean.
