Rain, rain and some more rain. Why, oh tell me why? Never thought of Madeira as a place where it rains nonstop.

Since we arrived there has never been a day without rain. But it’s been raining continously since last night . Once in a while the sun comes through, like right now, yet it is still raining. The likelihood of seeing rainbows are extremely high.

Our plan for a morning levada walk is out, hoping to be able to leave the house soon though. So Mish’s Dad went back to sleep after a hard day, or more like night at the casino, Mishal is spacing out on a chez lounge next to the window.
My favourite place to be, that is where I like to write, with the ocean down at my feet, my face is warmed by the sunshine through the glass. No sun now, so l let him have it.

Thinking hard where to go. Walking around in a mall is not really an option. They don’t have many, and none of them is big enough. There is the Dolce Vita, oops, La Vie, and Forum Madeira we frequently visit. Love their supermarkets, got the usual brands and Rituals as well.
Hooked on their shower foams, especially the Frangipani and Rice Milk, reminds me of a similar product Body Shop used to have.

Checked out other parts of the island, seems to be raining everywhere. Haven’t got a clue what to do with them. Found some movies to be watched. Apparently every foreign movie in Portugal is shown with Portuguese subtitles. That is an option for the afternoon.

Our yesterday night was quite surreal. The Zona Velha was almost empty, just a few tourists dared the elements. Which was a bit funny, because it was only a drizzle, you didn’t even need an umbrella.
The chef at the La Ao Fundo told us that it was on TV that everyone should stay home because of the extremely bad weather.
Well, we don’t watch the local Portuguese channels. Mainly because we do not understand much of it. Which must change, or at least for ex. He has been to his lawyer. With the golden visa he has to keep renewing his residence permit, till after 5 years he has to take a Portuguese language test.
Keep telling Mish that if his Dad can do it, so can he.

So without listening to all the warnings, we ventured out and had a really delicious dinner. Meat samosas, their usual welcome tuna paste, olives, small meatballs, spicy sautéed mushrooms, breaded shrimps with avocado cream and chilli shrimps. All incredible.
Us being the only customers sitting outside, the service was even more prompt, before any of us could think of it, our wine glasses were topped, used plates taken away. Mind you, don’t really like it if they keep adding wine to your still almost full glass, you never know how much you drink.

Waking up with a heavy head is an indicator. Must have been cautious, had no problem getting out of bed.
For the main course we ordered saffron and lime risotto with sea bream fillets. Asked the chef to add extra coriander and lime to mine for a more tangy taste.
Played endless games with Mish. Must admit he is much better at it. It is a smart game. Did get a bit easier after some wine.
His Dad had a bet with him and he lost it. What did he win? Unlimited iPad time for today.

Just perfect for now, raining uninterrupted, with his Dad napping and his Mum off to read

Stoner from John Williams. I told you I will read it! Or at least start…
