Watching my son having KFC chicken wings while I am enjoying my well deserved cappuccino. Why is it that no matter how hard you try, your child ends up loving junk food. I am proud to say that he has never tasted cola so far and the junk versions of hamburgers. But all the other stuff he did. I made a conscious decision to expose him to the least amount of E numbers, fake stuff. It did work till school, where his friends and peers opened his eyes to the wonders of junk world.

Had a brief escape from the heat. Yes, the heat has reached the mountains as well. Still 5-6 C cooler than down in the city, but inside it’s unbearable. Staying up late to enjoy the cool night air, while looking for shooting stars. We didn’t see a single one, maybe I was just not meant to wish upon a star. Reading the statistics of Facebook friends, they fared much better, on average six per family. Don’t like to lag behind.

Tossing and turning in the suffocating air of the upstairs bedroom till 4, when I give up caution and open all the windows, doors, not caring if two or four legged creatures come in, just want air. Fresh, cool, early morning air. As the sprinkle system goes on, all is quite again. Both of us are sleeping.

Not much work got done in the garden in the last few days. My biggest concern were my bushes around the fence. They were in dire need of water. Difficult task if your double hose (50m) still not long enough and that injury from the ship still haunts you.
So going down to the city was actually a quite pleasant experience, air condition in my car, at the mall, at the dentist. Was almost enjoying myself there, minus the drilling sound. Nice doctor and assistant, familiar place. So out of our way, but I am sticking with them nevertheless.

As I was sitting in the hammock in the morning, gazing up at the trees high above, could see yellow leaves, few of them gently falling down. Autumn is almost here.
But we still have one more trip up our sleeves. I am off to a much cooler place , this time with sis. A first time visit for me.
Another first is Mish spending these few days with his Dad. Met up with him at the Kempinski. Never been here, after all you don’t usually stay in hotels if you own properties in the area. Quick lunch at Nobu, the usual tuna, salmon and avocado maki and some popcorn shrimp. Absolutely delicious. Always wanted to try it, just way too far from our home for a quick meal.
Funny thing is that Mish has been here several times with the cooking summer camp he attended in previous years. Happily boasted about his ability of preparing sushi, the proof was in a box we always got when we went to pick them up. Huge, fatty rolls of salmon maki, ala Mishal.
We still have tonight together, plan to visit a Greek restaurant, we’ve been to when I was pregnant with our son.
I am a little bit apprehensive , keep giving him instructions, things to do, to remind Mish to brush his teeth, to hold his hand when walking, to color coordinate his clothes, to hug him, to check the phone for messages from me, the list is endless. Must stop. He is his Dad, they need to be together, need to spend time, just the two of them without me interfering.
Take deep breaths, I tell myself. Ok. I am ready.
