Magic Is On

Escaped!

Saying this with a grin on my face. Do you want to know where am I writing this? I will help, give you a clue : Small, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean….
Ok, not exactly in the middle, just a 1000 km off the coast of Portugal. Yes, your guess is right, I am back to Madeira. Madeira, my love. Still smiling. The sun is shining , just got in from the garden after an hour of sunbathing and catching up on news in Madeira reading Madeira Essentials. Heaven.

Mish has 9 days off school. The original plan was for his Dad to come to Budapest, but seeing the weather forecast he quickly changed his mind. Rain, rain, rain. It has been raining pretty much continuously for the past few days. Haven’t seen sun for quite some time. Our house was still wrapped up in fluffy fog, woke up to it, went to sleep with it.

Dreamy place, dreamy garden, especially with our not so little fox returning. I think I should dedicate a full blog post to him/ her . Still don’t know the gender, haven’t got a clue how to find out. Can’t see anything extra, so probably a girl ? As Little Fox appears from the middle of nowhere, following me around as I walk down the garden paths, like in a fairy tale.

Unfortunately didn’t have much time to “slow down and smell the roses “, having loads of errands to run before traveling. Don’t you ever wish you could slow down time or even stop it for a while, just to savour those moments of pure joy and bliss? Till that can happen, just keep taking pictures.

So as much as I was enjoying those magical, camera perfect, foggy days in the Enchanted, I was looking forward to some sun, levada walks, loads of seafood and plenty of sleep.

Good bye Enchanted, welcome Madeira!
After a sushi dinner with sis’s family and 3 hours of sleep we took off. Pleasant flight to Lisbon, meeting Mishal’s Dad there and catching a flight to Funchal.

The villa was spotlessly cleaned, the new sun loungers down in the garden. The only thing I could complain about is that they switched our bedlinen and A got the butterfly patterned ones. Obviously he doesn’t care.
What bothered me though was, that it was extremely windy. Was happy that we managed to land safe and sound with the headwind. Later on our usual taxi driver told us that it has been like this for the past couple of days, plenty of rain and wind. For a moment I thought of the rain hitching a hike on the plane from Hungary. Couldn’t believe it, I came all the way here, and it is raining again.

Luckily in Madeira weather changes every minute, so by night it calmed down, and as we were driving down to the bay area, the air was warm and spicy.

Walked around a bit, enjoyed that “ nothing ever changes “ feeling. Everything looked and felt the same. Only much less flowers , however the frangipani trees were still flowering, the scent was still pretty strong. Having not slept much, we opted for the Ritz. It is the first place we visit when we arrive and the last place we see before departing.

Had their usual famous fish and chips with mushy peas, some wine and nice live music. Loved it even better when Andrea Boccelli was singing during the musician’s break. Was a quick dinner, Mish almost falling asleep while eating.

What makes Madeira so perfect? How do you fall in love with a place in a instant? Could it be that you should just continue traveling, seeing new places? Could this be just an illusion because the dream place is yet to be found? But if it true, then what makes you want to come back? Why do you miss it so much that crying doesn’t help? And once you arrive, your heart is so full of love that makes you just cry again?

One thing I know for sure : Magic is still on.
